Để hoàn thành các câu có dạng Simple Past, chúng ta cần biết cấu trúc và nguyên tắc sử dụng thì quá khứ đơn. Thì quá khứ đơn được sử dụng để diễn tả hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.

Cấu trúc:
- Động từ nguyên mẫu + -ed (nếu là động từ không qui tắc) hoặc cấu trúc động từ qui tắc.

Nguyên tắc:
- Đối với các động từ không qui tắc, chúng ta thêm 'ed' vào động từ. Ví dụ: play - played, walk - walked.
- Đối với các động từ qui tắc, chúng ta thêm 'd' hoặc 'ed' vào động từ. Ví dụ: love - loved, want - wanted.
- Đối với các động từ bất quy tắc, chúng ta phải học thuộc cách biến đổi. Ví dụ: go - went, be - was/were.
