Để chuyển các câu từ dạng chủ động sang dạng bị động trong các thì cơ bản, ta cần thực hiện các bước sau:

1. Đổi thì của động từ chính theo thì của câu ban đầu.
2. Đổi danh từ hoặc nhân vật làm động từ chính trong câu chủ động thành chủ thể của bị động.
3. Sử dụng "be" đúng thì theo câu ban đầu.
4. Thêm động từ phụ thích hợp.
5. Sử dụng giới từ nếu cần thiết.
