Phương pháp chuyển câu trực tiếp sang câu tường thuật là sử dụng động từ "ask" hoặc "say" như một đổi thể công thức và chuyển đổi các thành phần câu.

Ví dụ:

=> She asked me when I was going to leave.

2. Jackson asked me, "Are you coming with me?"
=> Jackson asked me if I was coming with him.
